A handmade fermentation crock from clay. It is a perfect pot to traditionally ferment vegetables. Clay pots offer unique interactive properties with ferments – they pull out acidity and provide superior insulation, among other benefits – that are different from non-clay pots.
Sensitive Boy Ceramics is owned and operated by Julia Saldaña, an artist and potter from Boston. She received a BFA in ceramics from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2017, and relocated to Amsterdam in 2018, where she teaches in addition to her independent ceramic practice. Her favorite thing about the Netherlands is how often people buy each other flowers.
HOW TO USE
There are different ways to ferment. A classic Kraut can ferment perfectly in this pot. There are weights included that hold down the vegetables below the liquids.

Hand wash only with mild, natural soap and lukewarm water.
THOUGHTS BEHIND THE PRODUCT
We stumbled across a fermentation pot on Julia’s Instagram that she made for a friend some weeks ago and knew that this beautiful work would accompany our Donabes, Preserve Journal & Zuur Waterkefir so well. We work a lot with Ferments ourselves and truly adores this pot. Fermenting in clay is a traditional method that people used all over the world.
